Sant Joan

The feast of St. John begins the night before, on the evening of June 23, with what we call revetlla de Sant Joan, an open-air celebration during which people meet to have dinner (as a dessert we have coca de Sant Joan), launch firecrackers, and lit a bonfire with a flame coming from Canigou mountain in Malgrat Centre Beach, in front of Plaça Xesco Boix. The next day we celebrate the feast day of St John.

Below we can see the complete program of the celebration:

From 6:00 p.m: The San Juan party, organized by the Grup excursionista Malgratenc (GEM), will begin with the City Hall at the roundabout of the Sardana Monument, with the arrival of the Canigó flame.

From 8:00 p.m: From there, there will be a move to the Plaça de l’Església.

From 8:30 p.m: At the Plaça de l’Església will be held the ignition of the cauldron and the reading of the manifesto.

From 9:00 p.m: Then a parade-correfoc will begin until Xesco Boix square.

From 9:30 p.m: Will start a firework show and the firing of the fire of Sant Joan.

From 10:00 pm: Popular dinner at Xesco Boix square. There will be tables, chairs and grills to cook meat. There will also be a bar service with bread with tomato, botifarra, drink, coca and cava for 6 euros.

At 11:00 p.m : Performance of Tropical Roots at the Xesco Boix Square.

At 00:30 p.m: Performance of Sense Sal group at the Xesco Boix Square.

At 2:00 a.m: Dj Beat Masters at the Xesco Boix Square.
