CULTURAL HERITAGE
We invite you to participate in all the Festivals and activities that we organize in our village. Carnival, St. Joan and St. Pau, Main Summer Festival, International Festival of Music Bands and Choirs, Main Winter Festival, Folk dances, shows, Popular Folk Groups (Havaneres), Fireworks, etc..... Malgrat de Mar is a village of considerable social and cultural tendencies where both lovers of arts or those who prefer traditional culture can develop their skills in the town also during the holidays.

Sant Nicolau's Church: The church as we know it today comes from the 18th century, although it conserves remains from earlier ages. Façade done in neoclassical style dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari. |

"Peixateries velles"
(The old Fishmongers): From the late 19th century. The butchers were situated in the south part and the fishmongers were in the north part, where you can still find the stone where the fish was placed. |

Town Hall: Modernist style, opened on 15th of august, 1913. Its interior has been completely remodelled. |
Centro Cultural. Dedicated as cinema and theatre, lectures and conferences, etc. It has also an exhibition hall in the ground floor. |

"La Cooperativa": Initially it was a stately house built at the end of the 16th century. The noble family called Clapers lived there. Afterwards it served for a lot of other functions: field dressing station (18th century), headquarters of the Malgrat Casino (19th century), headquarters of a workers consumer cooperative (20th century). Nowadays, it’s the Public Library of Malgrat de Mar. |
Ca l'Arnau: Modernist style house, built in 1914. After its restoration and for 10 years, it housed a Public Music School. Currently, it houses the culture department and Malgrat Turisme SL. |

Old Hospital and Chapel: In 1441 Hug Descolomer donated his estate towards the building of a hospital for the Jesuchrist’s poor people. The hospital is currently a therapeutic centre and the chapel enclosed and renovated, hosts cultural events. |
Can Campassol Park. A really privileged green breathing space, location of a colonial home where Zenobia Camprubí, wife of Literature Nobel Prize winner Juan Ramon Jiménez, spent several summers in her youth. It currently hauses “El Casal de Jubilats” (Retired people house-club). |

La Pilona. Looking south from the new seafront promenade, out at sea, you can see a rock platform named "La Pilona". This artificial structure was used in the early 1900's as a docking station for ships collecting iron ore from the mines of "Can Palomeres" transported from the hills by a system of cable carts and supporting towers.

Torre de la Vídua de Can Sala: Modernist style building from 1909, by Esteve Rocafort Carreras. It has ceramics, wrought ironwork forging, typical of the style.
